Knitting group
I met with my knitting group tonight. Wanda did fine. Just sat there listening, getting to know everyone. My friends all accepted her and were very interested in her story. I am actually pondering what color pot sweater to knit. Winter is coming and don't want Wanda's roots to get cold. We met tonight at Borders, and I got looks but other than my friends nobody asked. I wonder if I might seem unapproachable. I really thought I would get more questions on why I am caring a plant. Times are tough right now and maybe people are just trying to get through tough times. Caring Wanda has helped me look out at people and wonder about how are those in this tough time are getting by and it helps me remember how lucky I am for what I have.

I think your right, that people are going through tough times. People are becoming more focused on themselves in everyday life and have not time to even notice others let alone ask a seemingly crazy person about why they are carrying around a plant. So long as you don't fall into that same trap the world will have at least one person attempting to make it a better place. You may have light for the coming week.
ReplyDeleteI know you are right. Tonight after helping out at Onething, 5 of us went out to share leftover food and coffee with homeless people. The Lord showed me another side of just how much he loves us and how he takes care of us. Matthew 6:32-34 "So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." The Lord totally met thier needs this day and it was an honor to be able to do that for them!!
ReplyDeleteCathy keep on!!! I like how you are going to make clothes for Wanda!
Thank you for this :) I know that I have been mentally so consumed with my own issues at times that I can hardly muster up enough energy to talk to people or ask about something that seems "out of place." I really appreciate your perspective of acknowledging other people's perspective and letting that reflection transform into a genuine heart of thankfulness.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I think that's what I'll do today...I'm going to make it a point to pay more attention to my surroundings and let my observations/revelations lead me to thanking Him :)
Thanks ;)
