New Maple

Well, Wanda is now fertilizing the flower bed she came from. I put another maple tree that had been growing along the side of the house. I noticed it the other day. It is smaller than the one the squirrel mugged. I am glad I found it I really did want to grow the tree to the point where I could plant it in the yard. So far I have buried two plants. I would guess that I need to read up the care and maintenance of maple trees. This plant caring (or dying in my case) is not as easy as it I had thought it would be. I have much to learn.

It's time to throw in the towel.

Wanda is going ever down hill. I could keep watering and nursing her along to the inevitable end or I could move on. Sonetimes in life it is just time to move on. In relationships, friendships, acquaintances, whatever kind of relationships the time to move on comes. This is a hard thing to do but necessary none the less. Doesn't mean forever, but sometimes you have to let somthing's and some people go. For their sake or for your sake, at times we need to learn some of life's lessons on our own,or with another that we won't see unless we close a door at different times in out life.
I am either going to grab another maple tree in the flower bed out in front or I will get a plant from the garden center.

Wanda is not doing well.

Wanda is not doing will, she is wilting and her leaves are turning brown. I water her, but she is declining. I think it is because her roots are shallow and as a weed she is jut not a flower. As much as I wanted a pretty flower, I picked a weed. I guess you could also apply this observation with relationships. When you meet someone and they are like a pretty flower, don't be fooled with a little honest observation the fact that they are a weed will eventually become apparent.

Bird watching

There is a patio in front of the duplex that I live in with my mom and a flag poll in the middle section of yard. I attached a 2x2 board to the poll and a 1x2 making a T and hung a bird feeder on each end. I have squirrel food at the base so I get a good show of birds and squirrels interacting throughout the day. I sit out in front and it only takes a few minutes for the action to start.
First the birds make a few passed to see what I am doing, then the squirrels come to the sidewalk and watch me for a few minutes to see what I am up to. Then if I am still the mosey on over and start to eat. Several kind of birds show up. Morning doves feed on the food on the bottom they are too big to use the feeders, yellow finches use the sack feeder in the middle that is as the package said a finch feeder. Other little sparow looking birds use it as well. The finches also feed at the tube feeders on each end as well. Little birds with red on the top of their heads and another without the red also feed at the feeders and on the ground. I think that they are wrens. The yellow finch does not feed on the ground.

There is not much fighting for the food. A little me first but no out and out fighting. They get spooked often at seemingly nothing but come right back. After the squirrels eat like it is their last meal the like to go to a shady spot and lay out flat and it looks like they go aaaahh. It is quite comical.
I was driving to a barnes and nobel and was on a road that has forest preserve on each side and a duck was watteling across and I thought thats not very smart. There was traffic so I slowed some and the duck just kept watteling and I kept going and the duck and I drove over the top and looked the mirror to see that the duck was at the side of the road. My friend that was with me said why didn't you stop. I would have caused an accident and as much as I love animals having a mind that can comprehend consequences to my actions I wasn't going to cause a possible accident that could hurt many people for a duck. That might be harsh but I don't think I have common sence to use as I see fit. I think you are suposed to use it to make the tough decisions as well. I would have tried to change lanes or slammed to a stop but there was to much traffic. My friend thinks I don't like animals but I do I just don't seem to have the same attitude as she does I guess. If I had it to do again I would not cause an accident for a duck.

Knitting group

I met with my knitting group tonight. Wanda did fine. Just sat there listening, getting to know everyone. My friends all accepted her and were very interested in her story. I am actually pondering what color pot sweater to knit. Winter is coming and don't want Wanda's roots to get cold. We met tonight at Borders, and I got looks but other than my friends nobody asked. I wonder if I might seem unapproachable. I really thought I would get more questions on why I am caring a plant. Times are tough right now and maybe people are just trying to get through tough times. Caring Wanda has helped me look out at people and wonder about how are those in this tough time are getting by and it helps me remember how lucky I am for what I have.

New outfit

Wanda had a plain green pot. Little pot with holes on the bottom. I came in the bedroom where we were watching medium. I had to go to the bathroom and I still think that that should be a private matter. When I came in my mom had put Wanda in a nice white pot with little flowers and vines and leaves just large enough that the green pot is hidden. Also, no holes on the bottom so when she gets a drink I do not have to have her sit on paper towels.

If there were shoes with the same pattern AnnMarie would LOVE them.

Had lunch with a friend and other than April my friend, no one asked about Wanda. I must be a person who looks normal carrying a plant named Wanda.

A new day, a new plant!

Well, I went outside picked up my little green pot dumped out the corn kernals and the peanut still in its shell. After a moment of silence dug up a little green plant with white flowers. Within two hours I was informed that my little green plant with the white flowers is a weed. Weed or no weed, I like my little green plant with white flowers. She is pretty, and a plant, good enough for me.
You have to take people (and plants it seems) for who they are. Looking past the packaging to find the good, the not so good, and whole package so to speak.

Is it just me or is buckling up the plant a little tricky. I wound up taking a towel and putting it around the pot so the belt fits around it. Can't have Wanda crashing into the dash after all. Safety first!
